With the guidance of an editorial board of pre-eminent literary scholars and world-renown poets, Parini has offers a meaningful structure to an ambitious collection, spanning from Beowulf to Jorie Graham. Parini's rendering encourages the reader to see the poems in conversation with one another. Poems from throughout the ages concerning war, love, animals, and even poetry itself sit side by side and throw new light on one another. This a refreshing and welcome break from the old chronological method o
