Digital & Analog Communication Systems (8th Edition) Milton John said An excellent and very comprehensive text. I find it incredible that this text has never been reviewed. It is extremely good with very good coverage of background material which was useful to me as a convert (of sorts) to electrical engineering, but which has also been of use in my later professional (of sorts) use, as a good many projects can involve going back and reviewing basic material, such as propagation of specific frequencies.I have used it as a suplement to Rappaport

DESCRIPTION:

A useful resource for electrical engineers. This revision of Couch’s authoritative text provides the latest treatment of digital communication systems. MATLAB is integrated throughout.. The author balances coverage of both digital and analog communication systems, with an emphasis on design. Readers will gain a working knowledge of both classical mathematical and personal computer methods to analyze, design, and simulate modern communication systems. For junior- to senior-level introductory communication systems courses for undergraduates, or an introductory graduate course

Since 2004 he has been retired as Professor Emeritus. His field of interest is in communications systems, with expertise in modulation theory and applications to wireless communication systems. From 1990 to 2004 he was the Associate Chair of the ECE Department at UF. At one time or another, he taught each of the different undergraduate and graduate communication courses in the UF ECE Department.. He earned his masters and Ph.D. In 1968 he was appointed Assistant Professor and he rose through the ranks to become Professor in 1984. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Florida in 1964 and 1967, respectively. He spent his 36 year career in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the University of Florida (Gainesville, FL). Milton John said An excellent and very comprehensive text. I find it incredible that this text has never been reviewed. It is extremely good with very good coverage of background material which was useful to me as a convert (of sorts) to electrical engineering, but which has also been of use in my later "professional" (of sorts) use, as a good many projects can involve going back and reviewing basic material, such as propagation of specific frequencies.I have used it as a suplement to Rappaport's book on wireless communications. It has been a few years since I have looked closely at it and that was in an a prior edition to this, . Fantastic A Customer Dr Couch does an excellent job of introducing the reader to analog & digital communications. Presenting an overview of such a subject is a daunting taskyet he does so masterfully. An invaluable part of my references and of others' personal "libraries." This book is an enduring cornerstone for understanding modern communications.. "Do not rely on this book as an introduction!" according to A Customer. If you are new to communications, you may want to get a more in-depth exploration of the topics Couch covers (particularly the mathematics). I took this course at the University of Florida (although not with Couch). We were required to buy this book, but the instructor I had DIDN'T USE IT (school politics, I guess).I didn't find it very helpfulnot nearly enough examples.
