"Five Stars" according to Janet. Hope there is another book in this series. If you like gripping, gritty writing with strong characters Yes, it would be good if you first got your hands on the first in this series, the superb HAILEY'S WAR, before you read this one, but you don't have to. The protagonist, Hailey Cain, is one of my favorite female protagonists in suspense/crime writing - gutsy, complex, memorable - and the novels are crackerjack: richly nuanced, tightly plotted and paced, gritty, emotionally honest, w. I like this one even better than the first one of this season K. Pattie Jodi Compton's first two novels had me hooked on a series which ended after those two books. I am surely hoping that won't be the case with the Hailey Cain series. Love these books!
